The Opportunity
Reporting to the Graphic Communications Lead and sitting within the Graphic Communications Team, the Graduate Designer will support all CPD teams via the Integrated Delivery team.
The purpose of the Graphic Communication Team is to generate and maintain a high standard of all visual outputs such as artwork for bid deliverables, competitions and projects, layout design, exhibition design and marketing collateral across CPD.
The Graduate Designer should have experience working on graphic design / architectural or other spatial design projects and be able to show a portfolio of work to date, including university work examples, that is visually compelling and demonstrates strong graphic communication skills. They should be experienced at using the Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign) and be confident discussing and presenting own work with teammates.
The Graduate Designer will be responsible for tasks such as: Infographics, diagrams, layout design, illustrative plans and graphics, simple visualisations and presentation design.
Requirements and skills
The role is multi-faceted and requires good all-round knowledge of the following areas;
Essential:
- Experienced knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
- Desktop publishing skills - generating layouts for print and screen (e.g InDesign/Powerpoint)
- Vector-based image making skills (e.g Illustrator, AutoCAD)
- Visualisation/rendering skills (e.g photoshop or similar)
Preferred:
- MS Office skills
- Storyboarding (e.g Miro or similar)
Is this role right for you?
We are looking for the following qualifications, attributes and skills.
- Bachelor's degree or a master's degree in the field of Graphic Design, Architecture / Spatial design, Landscape Architecture.
- Good communication skills essential for team-based working
- Sound knowledge of Graphic Design Principles
- Excellent planning and organization skills required for our fast-paced environment
- Must be highly motivated, proactive and willing to take on new challenges
- Able to work independently or as part of a large team
- Interest in infrastructure and buildings projects
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office Suite
