Launch your career with Arup:

Arup is an independent firm of designers, planners, engineers, architects, consultants and technical specialists, working across every aspect of today's built environment. Together we help our clients solve their most complex challenges – turning exciting ideas into tangible reality as we strive to find a better way and shape a better world.

Overview of role

This role is within our global development team specialising in technical software for structural and ground engineering and analysis. We are transitioning our existing applications from a desktop system implemented predominantly in C++ to a modern, flexible and responsive design that is ready for cloud deployment. Our programming languages are C#/.NET, with UI development in Chromium and Vue.js and calculation code in C++.

Our team is a mix of geotechnical engineers and software developers in different locations around the world, who work to define and develop new features as well as refine and optimise the existing ones.

What are we looking for?

For this opportunity, we are looking for someone with a demonstrated interest in software development.

You should have some experience developing in at least two of our usual programming languages.  The following would also be an asset:

  • Working towards a degree in Software Development or a related topic
  • Familiarity with web development
  • Some familiarity with database design or data structures
  • Ability to work independently and solve technical problems with little supervision
  • Strong communication skills

Arup Summer Internship opportunities typically run for 6-8 weeks. You must be available to start on the opportunity during Summer 2022 and commit to completing the programme in full.

What we offer you:

Beyond a great salary and stimulating, technically challenging work, Arup offers a range of additional benefits to its people.

You'll have access to lots of learning opportunities including a structured induction and ongoing training through Arup university.

Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to utilise your technical expertise to improve the lives of the most vulnerable in the communities in which we live and work through Arup's community engagement programme.

Next steps:

Complete the application form, attaching any required documents. We'll be reviewing applications on a rolling basis. You are therefore strongly encouraged to apply in advance of the application deadline. Interviews for most Summer Internship opportunities will commence from early February.
