This opportunity will be based in London
We work on a wide range of projects that involve strategy, commercial, economics policy and technical advisory to infrastructure and private equity investors, asset owners, operators and developers, governments, and international finance institutions. Sitting within one of Arup's BIA sector or service teams, you will have the opportunity to engage in work that is actively helping the Energy Transition and Path to Net Zero; with ESG, decarbonisation and sustainability at the core of the work carried out by the team.
You will gain an opportunity to develop your knowledge of infrastructure and energy markets, supporting colleagues on live client-facing and internal-facing projects. You will have the opportunity to interact with colleagues from your direct BIA team and across the wider firm, with the prospect of engaging with members of Arup at all levels.
You may expect to carry out the following day-to-day tasks:
- Carrying out analysis to support project teams on delivery of live project work for clients
- Conducting research on infrastructure and energy markets to inform the team on ongoing business development;
- Helping sector teams carry out internal data collation and analysis, to support future project delivery on upcoming client mandates;
- Attending team meetings and discussions, where you may be asked to deliver a presentation of work you have carried out to the team and senior colleagues;
- Attending networking events for internship students across the team and wider advisory group.
Qualifications / Skills / Requirements
- We are looking for individuals in their penultimate year of study, working towards a bachelor's degree (or higher level) in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics), Economics, Business or Finance discipline, or similar.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills;
- Experience of Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, etc.)
- Good communication skills, capable of articulating and explaining complex concepts clearly;
- An eagerness to learn with strong teamwork skills, looking to work in a dynamic environment.

This opportunity will be based in London
We are currently looking to recruit summer placement students to join our Project Management team. This is an excellent opportunity for a student that is enthusiastic and keen to develop their knowledge in Programme and Project Management to join our multi-disciplinary team for 6-8 weeks in the summer (2023).
You will provide support to team members to deliver an effective and professional service to our clients on strategically important projects, including:
- Support the programme and project management team in delivering to our clients
- Assist with the day-to-day tasks involved in the management of projects
- Coordinate between members of various disciplines and departments
- Gain exposure to the various aspects of programme and project management
What are we looking for?
- Either currently undertaking a Master's or Bachelor's or recently graduated
- Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Understanding of data management, visualisations and / or digital tools would be desirable, but not essential.
- Demonstrate a creative approach to problem solving and an aptitude to work on your own initiative and be proactive.
Arup Summer Internship opportunities typically run for 6-8 weeks. You must be available to start on the opportunity during Summer 2023 and commit to completing the programme in full.
