Strategic Communications
Responding to global challenges requires rapid adaptation and transformation of the built environment. Strategic Communications plays a vital role in this process by shaping strategy, crafting compelling messages, and engaging stakeholders to help our clients communicate with clarity, purpose, and impact.
Strategic Communications is part of the broader Strategy Consulting team which comprises of four core disciplines: Strategy & Transformation, Strategic Communications, Data Insights & AI, and Data Advisory. We all work together to help our clients to navigate and deliver change. As part of our growth ambitions, we are recruiting a motivated and driven graduate to join our Strategic Communications discipline.
The Opportunity
This role will be part of the Strategic Communications discipline, within the Strategy Consulting team. The team supports clients in navigating complex challenges, identifying opportunities, and executing sustainable transformational initiatives to achieve strategic communication and engagement objectives.
As a successful candidate, you will build experience in designing communication strategies, implementing and facilitating engagement programmes, and translating engagement insights into meaningful and impactful communications for stakeholders and clients. While the role centres on communications advisory and implementation, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the wider Strategy Consulting team, gaining exposure to diverse projects and perspectives.
As a Strategic Communications Graduate in our team at Arup, you would:
- Support the development and delivery of communication strategies for client organisations.
- Contribute to the creation of compelling, audience-focused communications to promote and drive engagement efforts.
- Create multi-media content and update digital channels for the client, tailoring messaging, tone and branding as appropriate.
- Assist in planning and delivering consultations, workshops, digital campaigns, and engagement programme, preparing supporting material and content.
- Gather and analyse engagement insights to inform communication strategies and inform reporting.
- Assist in preparing reports and presentations, summarising engagement findings, recommendations, and next steps.
- Support in coordinating project/meeting activities, documentation, timelines, and deliverables.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular communication and responsiveness.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure clear and effective communication across all project activities.

We're looking for graduates who are passionate about developing meaningful communications, with an interest in sustainable development and who can bring an innovative mindset to our team. We also value:
- Level 8 or above qualifications in a relevant field, including but not limited to: Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Social Studies, Policy, Government, Politics, Strategy, Management Consulting or Management.
- 1-2 years relevant experience desirable
- Adaptable with an interest to learn on the job
- Strong professional acumen and work ethic.
- Creative, with an interest in developing clear, impactful communications.
- Clear writing style and the ability to communicate well.
- Ability to present complex subject matter in accessible terms.
- Capable of working as part of a team as well as independently, across multiple projects
- A sustainability mindset with an awareness of the economic, environmental and societal challenges facing organisations.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications
- Interest in infrastructure, transport, sustainability and regional development.
