Overview of the role:  

The Workplace and Facilities Management team are integral to the smooth operation of the Arup buildings and facilities required to enable Arup staff, to not only carry out their work within the offices, but to want to work within those buildings, due to the great facilities on offer. Your apprenticeship would involve shadowing and supporting the team with the safe running of the building, services and ensuring statutory compliance is always met, alongside driving innovation and interrupting the data available to forecast trends. 

You will support and shadow the Facilities Management team, spend time with each section of the Facilities team to ensure you obtain a well-rounded understanding of the group. 

You will gain exposure to and become proficient in the following roles to support all team members: 

  • Soft Services  
  • Hard Services 
  • Helpdesk 
  • Facilities Management systems including data review and trending 
  • Finance and administration 
  • Space planning  
  • Project Management 

You will be integral to staying abreast of new innovations, reviewing and assessing innovation that can support the buildings to perform more efficiently and delivery a better service to its users.  

Following the changes in the last 18 months that saw a huge shift to homeworking, Workplace and Facilities management is at the forefront of encouraging people back into company buildings.  We have never had a better opportunity to drive innovation and to make changes for the benefit of the users of the buildings, not only to encourage them back into buildings, but to encourage new starters to join us.  


What are we looking for? 

For this opportunity, we are seeking the following qualifications, skills and attributes:  

  • GCSEs (grade C/4 or above) in English and Maths 
  • Good IT skills (e.g. Outlook, Word, PowerPoint) 
  • Excellent communication skills 
  • Enthusiasm to deliver outstanding customer service 
  • A keen interest in innovation 
  • Enthusiasm to formulate strong business cases 


You must be available to start this opportunity in August 2022.
