See it differently

You see the world through a unique lens and that’s exactly what we need. We embrace how you see things differently – it’s essential for creating a sustainable future.

Arup is a global consultancy with advisory and technical expertise across more than 150 disciplines. We guide, plan and design the future of the built environment. Globally, each year we recruit hundreds of graduates to help us see things differently and solve the most complex challenges facing our clients, climate and communities.

Our Transport planning practice sits within our Cities, Planning & Design team and is at the forefront in thinking about the future of our cities, towns, and transport networks.

As transport planners we are dedicated to shaping better cities and towns, creating spaces where walking, cycling, and public transport are more appealing and accessible. A key focus is on promoting low-carbon transport solutions to reduce car dependency and encourage people to choose greener, more sustainable ways of getting around. By combining innovative ideas, data-driven insights, and smart planning, we're helping to create safer, more efficient transport networks that meet the needs of both the community and our clients.

The Opportunity

We're looking for Graduate Transport Planners to join our team of bright professionals across several of our UK offices. From your first day, you'll join an unrivalled community of experts, where everyone is supported in their career path and encouraged to work towards a professional qualification, whilst maintaining control and drive of your own career.

By being part of our transport planning team, you will help to provide expert guidance, make recommendations, and help to identify solutions tailored to a client's or project's specific needs. It involves understanding the bigger picture, listening to stakeholders, analysing data, and providing informed advice to help make better decisions.

You'll help us to deliver exciting and interesting projects for a range of varied and high-profile clients. While you'll have a great deal of opportunity from day one, we'll give you the chance to take on more responsibility as you progress and broaden your skills with guidance and support throughout.

Typical day to day responsibilities may include but are not limited to: preparing reports on technical analysis and findings; undertaking numerical analysis; understanding various computer software tools ranging from Microsoft Excel through to specific modelling packages; working on technical, research and strategy reports; solving technical problems and providing innovative solutions as your level of experience develops; and undertaking site visits as required

Is this role right for you?

We're looking for graduates with curiosity, personal drive and acumen to develop technical skills. If you can combine these skills with an understanding of (or willingness to learn about) Transport Planning and a desire to deliver excellent services for clients, we'd like to hear from you.

  • Bachelor's degree in subjects relating to Civil or other Engineering, Geography, Planning, Economics, Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics, Data/Computer Science, with a prediction of 2:1 or higher OR;
  • Data analytics or Transport Planning-based Master's degree or other relevant topic with a prediction of Pass or above is advantageous;
  • Enthusiasm for a career in Analysis and Planning, underpinned through a knowledge and understanding of our sector and work
  • A planned and organised approach to work and meeting deadlines

We're looking for:
