The Opportunity 

As Landscape Architects at Arup, we expect our designers to think creatively, innovatively, and develop the best outcomes for people, nature, and the environment. Our work plays a crucial role in climate change adaptation by working with natural systems in urban and rural environments to build resilience and mitigate risks. This includes creating green and blue infrastructure strategies , multi-functional and regenerative design, together with sustainable principles throughout. You will be part of an award-winning team that designs and helps deliver ground-breaking and iconic projects through our work in infrastructure, building design and specialist technical services. Independent in ownership and spirit, we're a global firm of designers, engineers, consultants, and technical experts who use our skills to make a positive difference in the world.  

Arup provides an integrated approach and delivers sustainable solutions to the design of cities and complex urban and rural environments. Our network of UK landscape teams currently includes London, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Leeds, Newcastle, Sheffield and Southampton, working on a variety of projects across the world, with a focus on the UK, India, Middle East and Africa region. Our network extends overseas with landscape teams in Australia: Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney; Asia: Hong Kong, Singapore and Shanghai; Europe: Amsterdam, Berlin, Dublin, Istanbul, Madrid and Warsaw.

With a well-established landscape architecture business, we offer our clients a full range of services including, but not limited to, the following:   

  • Landscape Led Master planning; 
  • Concept design through to detailed design and construction; 
  • Visualisations/3D Modelling;   
  • Design guidelines and best practice; 
  • Nature based design solutions; 
  • Feasibility studies and area strategies; and 
  • Strategic planning, assessment and policy review. 

 

Our landscape architecture teams work side by side with a wide range of Arup's other specialist disciplines, including urban design, architecture, ecology, town planning, sustainability experts, engineering, cost consulting and project management.   

 

Your typical day to day responsibilities could include:  

  • Assisting design work and graphics; 
  • Preparation of detailed construction drawings; 
  • Preparation of masterplan graphics; 
  • Production of Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIA); 
  • Preparation of clear and concise reports; 
  • Attending team meetings; 
  • Attending project reviews and workshops; 
  • Site Surveys; and 
  • Planning your workload so that you can deliver on time or ahead of target. 

 

Is this role right for you? 

We are looking for the following qualifications, attributes and skills: 

  • A Bachelor's degree in Landscape Architecture (or related discipline). 
  • A Master's or Post Graduate Diploma qualification in Landscape Architecture or Landscape Management is desirable.  

 

This role is based in Bristol or Cardiff, and we will be considering Bristol or Cardiff based applications only.

 

For those joining us who are qualified to Bachelor's degree level, you will need to be committed to gaining a post-graduate qualification while working with us, to be eligible for chartership
