Our team also works closely with many external bodies involved in the delivery of major projects.

About the role

We are currently recruiting for a 3D Modeller/Visualisation Artist to join our growing team in the Manchester office. This is an exciting new opportunity for someone with a strong creative streak, with an interest in technology and the built environment, to join a team of Visualisation Artists and Programmers. You will provide support to team members to deliver an effective and professional service to our clients. Due to the nature of our work you will have the opportunity to gain a range of experience.

Typical responsibilities could include:

  • Creating well-structured 3D models, from conceptual masterplanning to detailed engineering/architectural models
  • Working with 3D models produced by other design teams in formats such as Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD
  • Set up of cameras, materials, lighting for animations and images using 3Ds Max and Vray
  • Post production using Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere
  • Production of visualisation material for environmental assessment, public consultation, marketing and bid support
  • Optimisation of 3D models for use in interactive and web based applications
  • Working with interactive 3D platforms such as Unreal and Unity 3D
  • Survey and photography site visits
  • Supporting bid development
  • Supporting internal clients within Arup

About you

You should be an innovative problem solver, someone who thinks ‘outside the box' and who is able to communicate ideas and solutions. You should have a positive and forward-thinking approach and enjoy working as part of a friendly and supportive team. Projects will be diverse and the ability to multi-task and manage your workload is important.

Key to this role will be the ability to develop creative and imaginative solutions and present these in both verbal and written forms. The development and deploying of visualisation platforms and tools and integration with data solutions is a rapid growth area; we want someone who can help to expand this further through innovative thinking, enthusiasm and vision. You should be keen to learn and develop your skills as you gain experience in new areas of work.

We encourage our 3D Visualisation Artists to demonstrate drive and motivation, a willingness to learn about our sectors, and a desire to effectively deliver an excellent service to our clients. As such, we are looking for the following qualifications, skills and attributes:

Essential criteria:

  • A degree or suitable experience in a relevant discipline such as: visual design, interactive multimedia, UI/UX design, 3D/VFX design and production, 3D creative media or architecture
  • An interest in engineering, architecture and landscape design

Desirable criteria:

  • Skills in Unreal and Unity 3D
  • A strong working knowledge of 3D Studio Max, Vray, Photoshop
  • Experience of UI/UX design
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • An eye for detail
  • Skills in Adobe After Effects, Premiere, CAD, Revit, Rhino is an advantage
  • Web development skills an advantage
  • Ability to learn and keep up to date with new software releases
